Mrs. Calabro’s Mathematics Classes
Snake River High School
Calculus

Grading Scale:

90 – 100% A
80 – 89 % B
70 – 79 % C
60 – 69 % D
0  - 59 %  F

Grading:  Tests 80%

Assignments  20%

Tests: 80% of your calculus grade is based on your test average.  Rarely will a test cover a whole chapter, just related sections.  If you are absent on a test day I expect you to take the test the next school day.  (Plan on staying for ENCORE and maybe after school if you are taking a make-up test).  Extended absences due to illness or school functions will be handled on an individual basis.
At midterm I will drop the lowest test grade and average the others for your test average.  At the end of the term a final will be given that counts as two test grades.  I will again drop the lowest grade and determine your test average.

Assignments:  I will assign problems from the textbook that you should keep in a notebook.  The notebook will be picked up on test days.  I encourage you to take notes but I will not grade notes.  Occasionally worksheets will be assigned.  Late notebooks and worksheets are docked 20% each school day late.  Also quick unannounced quizzes may be given.  Assignments and quizzes will reflect 20% of your course grade..

Tardy policy:  1st tardy   no penality
2nd , 3rd *, 4th * tardy  20 minute  detention with me
(served during ENCORE, before school, after school)
5th , 6th, 7th … tardy referral to Mr. Ray Carter
*Parents are notified on the 3rd or 4th tardy
Students who are 5 minutes or more tardy are given a Late Absence and a 20 minute detention with me.  If you are detained by a staff member, please bring a signed note excusing your tardy.

Attendance :   If you are absent for any reason besides a school activity, you must bring me a white attendance excuse from  the office.  A 20 minute Encore detention may be given for failure to get an admit.
If you are past the six days allowed under the attendance policy, make sure to have Mrs. Lewis, Mrs. Nelson, or Mr. Carter sign the admit.  I will not accept an admit from Student Service.
I will give you the work missed during an absence but you can not receive credit for it if you are unexcused  after the 6th absence.

Class atmosphere:  I do not expect any discipline problems from calculus students as you are now young adults.  Any problems will be handled on an individual basis.    I do request you be quiet during announcements and Channel One.
